Thirty years of addiction. 18 years clean and sober. This is why I do the work I do today.
I want to give back what was freely given to me. I know what addiction costs — families, careers, marriages, a sense of self. And I know the look in someone’s eyes the moment they realize they can actually change. That moment is why I still do this work.
For years, I chased what I thought was balance — a little of this, a little of that, trying to find some perfect equilibrium between using and functioning. Here’s what I eventually learned:
The perfect balance isn’t a mix of anything. It’s nothing.
Real balance is being at one with yourself — able to sit with all of it, the ups and the downs, without needing to numb any of it.
Here’s the belief my entire practice is built on: the tools we learn in recovery aren’t just for staying sober. They’re a working manual for how to succeed at anything.
The discipline, the self-honesty, the ability to sit with discomfort instead of running from it — these are the exact skills that build careers, save marriages, and rebuild identities. I didn’t leave those tools behind when I moved from surviving into thriving. I built on them.
That’s the foundation of my confidential stabilization work with high-performing professionals today — taking what recovery teaches and applying it to real, high-stakes life: careers, relationships, reputations, family.
People sometimes assume recovery work — or any kind of professional advisory — is about financial success. It isn’t. It’s about the freedom that stability gives you. The freedom to try when everyone says you can’t. To do the thing everyone said you shouldn’t. To succeed in the places where people quietly doubted you.
That’s what nearly two decades of long-term recovery has taught me, and it’s what I want for every person I work with.
I’ve been doing this work for a long time, and it’s been a hell of a journey. I’m now at a point in my life and career where I get to do this on my own terms — for myself, and for the people I work with.
If any part of this story resonates with you, I’d genuinely love to hear from you.
